Pronghorn Reservoir - Bonanza, OR
Pronghorn Lake is located near the town of Bonanza, Oregon and is a private lake of about 185 acres. It is loaded with big Donaldson strain hybrid rainbow along with other species of rainbows. The hybrids have been landed over 20 pounds. I landed three in one day in April of 2012 that went 20, 23, and 25 pounds. Most of these big rainbows average from 4-10 pounds with the monster running 12-17 pounds. Prime times to fish this lake is April-June and again October-November or until it freezes up. Intermediate lines, a host of patterns will all work with the cast and retrieve form of presentation,. A floating line, indicator and small nymph or chironomid is deadly both spring and fall. The fee to fish the lake is $185.00 which also includes a cabin. You arrive mid-day and fish that evening, stay the night in the cabin and fish the next morning till noon. My guide fee is on top of that. The cabins can sleep up to 5 or 6 people. Call me for additional information if this lake works for you.
Note:
Float tubes or pontoon boats are recommended.
