Hosted Trips
Cypress Hills Trophy Lakes, Cypress Hills, Alberta Canada

Without a doubt, the best tro;phy lake I have ever fished for truly monster trout is Cooper Lake in Alberta, Canada. On my most recent trip in 2008, clients landed robust rainbow that averaged 8-13 pounds with the biggest going over 20. A 23 pounder was tops. Many of these huge 20 pounders are gone now but recent plants two years ago are now 5 to 8 and I expect to see fish over 10 pounds by fall of 2010. There will still be some holdover fish that will be the dream of a lifetime for some anglers.

The other lake we will be fishing is Armstrong with numerous bays holding some huge fish as well. The average will be 5 to 8 pounds but expect a few to top l5 pounds. This is a perfect stillwater lake with lots of channels with the average depth 8 feet and lots of 4-6 feet of shoreline to explore.

Both lakes are about 150 acres with buggers and leech patterns best, but the small stuff works well also. I'll be hosting a fall trip in 2011 starting September 22 ,23 and 24. The fee is $250.00 per person per day with 2 days mandatory. That's the ranchers request.

These lakes are just 30 miles inside the Canadian border from Montana. If you fly, best to rent a car in Great Falls and the drive to Elkwater, where there is lodging, is about 2 and 1/2 hours.
